Firefighters were called out on Wednesday night, 29th July, following a vegetation fire in the surroundings of the Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park, which threatened several homes located between 100 and 200 metres away in the El Mirador residential area of Torrevieja.
Emergency services received the initial alert at 21:52 on Wednesday evening, reporting a fire near Calle Chiva. Due to the proximity of the residential properties, crews from the Torrevieja and Almoradí fire stations were deployed alongside two forest firefighter units to tackle the blaze. Emergency teams focused their efforts on containing the flames and securing the surrounding perimeter.
The fire was brought under control at 23:00, just over an hour after the alarm was raised. No injuries were reported in the incident. Firefighters remained at the site throughout the night to damp down the area and inspect affected spots, ensuring no reignition occurred. The operation officially concluded at 08:17 on Thursday morning.
The emergency deployment included a command unit, a heavy urban pumper, a heavy tanker, a heavy forest pumper, and a personnel transport van. The response team comprised a sergeant, two corporals, and eight firefighters from the Torrevieja and Almoradí fire stations, working alongside two forest firefighter units.
