The former Rocas Blancas Hotel could soon regain a prominent role in Santa Pola. Speaking during the July ordinary council meeting, the Councillor for Finance, José Pedro Martínez, addressed the situation surrounding the property, which had fallen into a state of disrepair. A company has now submitted a licence application and construction plan to rebuild and restore the site into a four-star hotel featuring 105 rooms.
José Pedro Martínez described the former hotel as a long-neglected building that had suffered significant decay over time. He explained that the project submitted by the firm would recover the location through a combination of new construction and rehabilitation. According to Martínez, creating a four-star facility with 105 rooms will generate wealth for Santa Pola and broaden its appeal to visitors.
One of the most notable elements of the proposal is the construction of a pedestrian footbridge over the N-332 road. Martínez explained that this infrastructure will link the hotel area directly with the Molí de la Calera, a site classified as an asset of local relevance. The footbridge aims to facilitate pedestrian mobility while improving the integration of the development with the surrounding urban environment and historic heritage.
Beyond expanding the accommodation capacity of the municipality, the town council views the investment as a way to reinforce local tourism and economic activity. Martínez linked the submission of the proposal to the climate of confidence that the local administration is attempting to build with private investors, emphasizing that facilitating business project development is central to the local strategy.
