A neighbour’s alert regarding a strong smell of marijuana in a residential area has led to the dismantling of a criminal organisation operating indoor cannabis plantations across several towns in the Marina Alta region.
The investigation began when a local resident notified officers about an intense odour coming from a nearby property. Following initial enquiries, the Guardia Civil launched an operation that uncovered a sophisticated network dedicated to the large-scale cultivation and distribution of marijuana.

Specialised searches were conducted across properties in multiple municipalities in the Marina Alta, resulting in the seizure of a significant number of cannabis plants, specialised climate control equipment, and electrical installations designed to bypass the mains supply. Several individuals were arrested during the raids and face charges relating to offences against public health, membership of a criminal organisation, and the illegal connection of electricity services. The detained suspects have been handed over to the judicial authorities.
