The Guardia Civil are investigating the causes of a house fire that broke out in the municipality of La Nucía, leaving a 64-year-old woman trapped inside her property alongside her pet dog.
The incident took place during the early hours of 26th July, at approximately 04:30, when the emergency services line 112 received an alert regarding a blaze at a home where occupants were believed to be at risk. Officers from the Guardia Civil in Altea, working alongside members of the Local Police in La Nucía, promptly dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, emergency responders confirmed that dense smoke and severe flames were preventing the resident from escaping the house under her own power. With firefighters still en route, the officers initially attempted to break down the main front door. When this attempt proved unsuccessful, they used available tools to force open a small window adjacent to the entrance.
Entering through the window, officers navigated the heavy smoke and successfully pulled both the 64-year-old woman and her pet dog to safety. Firefighters arrived shortly afterwards to extinguish the blaze and prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring properties, though the residence itself suffered extensive damage due to the intensity of the flames.
Medical personnel evaluated the woman at the scene. Fortunately, despite living alone with her pet, she did not suffer any major injuries. The exact origin of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation into the cause is currently being carried out by the Fire Investigation Team (ESIN) of the Guardia Civil from the Valencia Zone.
