A 46-year-old local resident has died in hospital following a serious medical emergency at the municipal swimming pool in Dolores.
The incident took place at around 5:30 pm on Friday, 21st August, when emergency services were called to the swimming pool complex. The man suffered a cardiac arrest and exhibited symptoms consistent with drowning. A SAMU mobile ICU unit and a Basic Life Support unit were dispatched to the venue. Medical staff performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and managed to stabilise the patient after restoring his vital signs.
Following stabilisation, he was rushed to the Vinalopó Hospital in Elche, where he was admitted for intensive care. However, he passed away on Saturday after failing to recover from the complications of the incident.
In response to the tragedy, Dolores Town Council issued an official municipal decree expressing deep sorrow over the loss and offering condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
As a mark of respect and mourning, the local authority ordered the exceptional closure of the municipal swimming pool for the entire day today, Sunday, 23rd August. The closure resulted in the suspension of public access and all planned activities at the facilities throughout the day.
The official decree noted that the decision reflected the grief of the council and the whole municipality of Dolores. The town council extended its solidarity to the bereaved family while thanking local residents for their understanding and respect regarding the temporary closure.
