Local police officers in Pilar de la Horadada have evacuated residents following a fire that broke out in a building in the town. The blaze caused significant amounts of toxic smoke inside the property, forcing the evacuation of residents for several hours.
Prompt action by the officers who responded to the incident ensured that they brought several occupants to safety. Among those rescued was a disabled woman who was inside the penthouse apartment and unable to leave the building under her own power.
Faced with the emergency, officers had to carry the woman down the stairs by hand as heavy smoke spread through the property, creating particularly difficult conditions for the evacuation. This swift intervention took place while awaiting the arrival of firefighters, who subsequently arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames.
The decisive response ensured that the woman and other evacuated residents were able to leave the building safely without becoming trapped inside.
