From River Plate to English football, taking in Qatari side Al Rayyan and Spain’s Elche CF, La Finca Resort has transformed its Algorfa facilities into a central meeting point for international professional football this summer, hosting an almost continuous succession of training camps for players and Premier League referees.
During the summer months, the Alicante complex has hosted eleven sports training camps, with delegations arriving from Argentina, England, Qatar, Scotland, and Spain. This intense activity reinforces the position of La Finca Resort as an international high-performance centre and places Alicante firmly on the map as a top preparation destination for football clubs and professionals.
One of the major highlights of the summer was River Plate, who chose La Finca Resort for their two-week preparation period in Spain. The Argentinian team turned the complex into their base of operations, combining accommodation, training, recovery, and sports planning all in one space.
Following the Argentinian side, Premier League referees arrived, with two delegations of over 100 people hosting the men’s refereeing team first, followed by the women’s team. During their stay, they worked on both physical preparation and various technical aspects ahead of the new season, including VAR, communication systems, and regulatory updates.
The presence of English football has been particularly notable this summer. La Finca Resort has hosted training camps for Bristol City and Preston North End, as well as the under-21 teams of West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion.
Women’s football has also played a prominent role, with training camps for Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. The international dimension is completed by Al Rayyan from Qatar and Heart of Midlothian from Scotland, while Spanish football was represented by Elche CF, who also spent time at the facilities during the summer.
The continuous selection of La Finca Resort is due to a model that allows teams to centralise almost all their preparation within a single complex. Accommodation, sports facilities, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, recovery areas, catering and nutrition adapted to athletes’ needs, and rooms for technical work are all part of an infrastructure designed for the rigorous demands of professional sports.
