The airline Volotea is outlining the launch of a new route that will connect A Coruña with Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport. The company has been the sole bidder in the tender launched by the Tourism Consortium of A Coruña to operate five proposed routes to Málaga, Valencia, Bilbao, Seville and Alicante.
According to the tender, the planned connections include Málaga and Valencia, with 208 annual flights and a minimum of 37,440 seats each; Bilbao, with 180 annual flights and a minimum of 32,400 seats; Seville, with between 288 and 352 annual flights depending on the contract year, offering up to 63,360 seats; and Alicante, with between 146 and 180 annual flights depending on the year, providing up to 32,400 seats.
A Coruña City Council reported on Wednesday, 26th August, that Volotea was the only airline to submit an offer for the contract. The administrative process will now proceed with the submission of documentation and necessary formalities. If all requirements are met, the contract will be formalised this autumn.
