Villajoyosa Local Police, alongside officers from El Campello and the Guardia Civil, have arrested a man of Georgian nationality who was subject to an active search and arrest order. The operation took place after a joint effort to locate two vehicles identified by security cameras, which were allegedly linked to several burglaries committed in El Campello.
The incident occurred on 25th August, when the Villajoyosa force received an alert at 16:30 requesting assistance to track down and identify the occupants of two vehicles, according to municipal sources in a statement.
The vehicles were travelling along the N-332 towards Villajoyosa, prompting a request for local police units to intercept them. Officers spotted both cars on the deceleration lane leading to the Washington roundabout. A police car blocked their path to stop the vehicles and verify if the occupants matched the alert issued by El Campello Local Police.
Two additional police vehicles and two motorcycles from the Beach Unit arrived at the scene shortly after. Minutes later, two patrol cars from El Campello and Guardia Civil officers who had been pursuing the vehicles also joined the operation.
Working in a coordinated response, officers identified all the occupants, who were all of Georgian origin. A search of the vehicles confirmed they were indeed the two cars flagged in the initial warning.
During the background checks, officers established that one of the individuals had an outstanding search, arrest, and court appearance order. He was immediately arrested and handed over to the Guardia Civil.
A search of both vehicles uncovered numerous tools, including an angle grinder, which were allegedly linked to break-ins at residential properties. The Guardia Civil seized all the equipment and took charge of the arrest proceedings and the investigation.
