Local Police in Orihuela have arrested a man on suspicion of committing a burglary at a pizzeria located in Plaza Poeta Sansano. The suspect was spotted shortly after riding an electric scooter that had been stolen from inside the business.
The incident occurred during the early hours of the morning when an alarm was triggered, prompting multiple Local Police patrols to head straight to the eatery. Upon arrival, officers observed that both the folding security grille and the access door leading into the storeroom had been forced open.
Officers reviewed security camera footage from the venue, which provided vital information about those involved and confirmed the theft of various items from the property, including an electric scooter. Following these initial checks, officers on duty set up a search operation across the surrounding area to locate the individuals responsible.
During the search, police spotted one of the suspects nearby, who was riding the stolen electric scooter. According to the Local Police, upon noticing the presence of the officers, the man fled the scene, sparking a pursuit through several streets in Orihuela.
The suspect was eventually intercepted on Calle Alfonso XIII and arrested on suspicion of burglary with force.
The operation successfully recovered the electric scooter stolen from the establishment. Local Police noted that during the pursuit, the safety of pedestrians and road traffic in the area was prioritised throughout. Following the completion of initial police procedures, the arrested man was handed over to the judicial authorities.
