A gang of armed men posing as police officers stole a trailer packed with designer clothing worth nearly one million euro near Alicante in the early hours of Thursday morning, 17th September. The National Police are leading an ongoing investigation into the high-value robbery, with no arrests made so far.
The truck driver was completing a transport route from Almería to Alicante when he was intercepted upon arriving at the El Espartal industrial estate on the outskirts of Alicante. Two high-powered vehicles equipped with flashing lights designed to mimic unmarked National Police and Guardia Civil cars forced the transport vehicle to pull over.
Two armed suspects dressed as police officers forced the driver out of the cab before taking control of the trailer and fleeing the scene towards Alicante.
Detectives from the specialised and violent crime unit (UDEV) robbery team in Alicante are examining CCTV footage captured by security cameras throughout the industrial park, alongside local traffic monitoring cameras. Investigators from the National Police confirm all potential leads are being explored as the search for the suspects continues.
