The Grupo de Respuesta Avanzada (GRA) of the Policía Local in Santa Pola carried out over twenty interventions during the town’s Fiestas Patronales, resulting in three arrests, the confiscation of six bladed weapons, and four drug-related interventions.
The security operation covered the nine days of celebrations held between 31 August and 8 September. Throughout the festivities, officers maintained a reinforced presence across the areas with the highest footfall and public gatherings, concentrating primarily around the festival marquees, the local bus station, the town centre, and Gran Alacant.
In addition to responding to direct incidents, the police deployment focused on preventive actions, which included vehicle checks and the routine screening of individuals and bus passengers. Over the course of the operation, officers registered nine formal complaints and administrative notices.
Among the specific incidents recorded, a knife was located near the Bunker nightclub on 31 August. The following day, 1 September, officers seized a penknife in the vicinity of the Els Llaganyosos marquee. Further dangerous items were confiscated on 3 and 4 September. Preventive action was also taken on 4 September around the municipal festival marquee, where several pyrotechnic devices were confiscated by officers.
The security forces also intervened in several disturbances. Two days into the celebrations, an incident at the municipal marquee led to three formal complaints for public disorder. On 3 September, a woman was arrested on suspicion of causing a public disturbance.
Throughout the festival period, static surveillance posts were maintained outside both the municipal marquee and Els Llaganyosos from their opening until closing time, which typically occurred at around 05:00. Once the venues closed, units conducted follow-up patrols throughout the town centre to deter altercations and maintain public order.
