Torrevieja is set to experience an action-packed weekend filled with cultural activities, highlighted by acclaimed flamenco dancer Sara Baras performing her show Infinita at the Municipal Theatre and the staging of the XXXVIII International Choral Meeting City of Torrevieja at the International Auditorium.
The Municipal Theatre welcomes Sara Baras today, Friday, September 25th, at 9:00 p.m. with her new stage production, which arrives in Torrevieja with a full capacity. Over recent decades, Sara Baras has built a reputation as a leading figure in flamenco and Spanish dance, leading her own company since the late 1990s and receiving accolades such as the National Dance Prize and the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts. In Infinita, she explores identity, heritage, and roots through eight women’s perspectives, using dance to honour her legacy.
Meanwhile, the International Auditorium hosts the XXXVIII edition of the Torrevieja International Choral Meeting on September 25 and 26. Organised by the Francisco Vallejos Choir with support from local municipal boards and councils, the event opens on Friday, September 25th, at 8:00 p.m. featuring the host choir, the “Cecilio Gallego” String Orchestra from Torrevieja, and the Orfeón Cantábile from Alicante. A Choral Forum follows on Saturday morning, ahead of the Closing Gala on Saturday evening featuring choirs from Valencia, Gipuzkoa, and Bucharest.
Additionally, the International Auditorium hosts the V National Congress of the Spanish Society of Suicidology today, bringing specialists together to discuss mental health, artificial intelligence, and prevention strategies. These events firmly cement Torrevieja as a bustling hub for the arts and professional conventions.
