The Administrative Courts number 1 and number 2 of Elche have ruled in favour of five local police officers from Santa Pola, members of the CSIF union, and have ordered the City Council to include night shifts and holidays in their specific supplement. The rulings also recognise the payment of back pay, retroactive to up to four years, plus interest.
The rulings consider these bonuses to be linked to the standard work schedule and shifts assigned to the position. Therefore, officers must also receive them during vacations, periods of sick leave, and paid leave, and they must be included in their annual bonus payments. These rulings are not final and can be appealed to the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV).
The rulings come just days after the City Council convened CSIF and the other unions, on August 24th, to a working group to negotiate the inclusion of these concepts in the specific supplement and to set the amounts.
The number of beneficiaries may increase. Two other unionised police officers are still awaiting their decision, and the union anticipates that more officers will soon join. The CSIF union branch at the City Hall has expressed its gratitude for the work of its new legal service, Medialbe, which handles the union’s legal affairs within the local administration.
