National Police officers in Cartagena have arrested a man and a woman who are now in provisional detention following a series of armed robberies in the municipality. Two people were detained for allegedly mugging three individuals, during which one victim was stabbed at knifepoint near the Cartagena railway station.
According to the National Police, the incidents occurred during the early hours over two consecutive days. The suspects approached various victims in public spaces, utilising a knife to intimidate them and steal personal belongings, including cash, bank cards and mobile phones. During one of the robberies, a male victim sustained two knife wounds—one in the shoulder and another in the lower back. He remained conscious, and, fortunately, the wounds did not hit any vital organs.
Following reports of the muggings, National Police agents from the Cartagena police station immediately launched an investigation to identify and locate those responsible. In under 48 hours, officers tracked down and intercepted the suspects. Upon searching them, officers found a concealed knife, which is believed to be the weapon utilised during the commission of the robberies and in the injury of the victim. The force noted that the swift police action prevented further criminal acts from being committed in the area using the same method.
