National Police have broken up a business in Alicante dedicated to selling allegedly counterfeit caps through social media platforms. At the head of the network was a couple, consisting of a man and a woman aged 33 and 37 respectively.
The investigation began following a complaint lodged by the representative of a well-known textile brand, who reported the detection of two profiles on social media dedicated to selling counterfeit products from the firm. According to the police account, the couple lacked authorisation or consent from the holder of the industrial property rights.
This situation led brand representatives to contact the profiles to purchase some of the products and determine their authenticity. The cap shipments were carried out from a residence in the city of Alicante.
Following various investigations, officers identified the two individuals involved and located their home in Alicante, which they used to store and sell the counterfeit material. During the search, officers seized a total of 614 caps, as well as various material necessary for their distribution, including printers, labels and boxes.
Once police procedures were completed, the actions were referred to the duty instruction courts of Alicante.
