Torrevieja starts process to declare 66 niches as ruins

The Town Hall of Torrevieja has launched an administrative procedure to declare the state of ruin of 66 niches located in the municipal cemetery, specifically in the older area of the site.

The Town Hall is advancing the administrative processing to determine the situation of the 66 affected niches, a procedure in which it must take into account existing burial rights before adopting the corresponding decisions regarding these burial units.

The process is being developed under article 53 of the regulations approved by Decree 39/2005, of 25th February, of the Consell, which regulates aspects related to mortuary health police in the Valencian Community. The official announcement, dated 19 October, is headed “Evacuation of block 3 due to state of ruin and count of empty niches of the municipal cemetery of Torrevieja”.

However, the published text focuses on the notification of the ruin declaration procedure and the opening of the claims period, without yet specifying an evacuation schedule or detailing the material actions that will be carried out on the graves.
