National Police officers have arrested a man in Alicante for allegedly swindling a woman after tricking her into believing he would help her set up a home delivery food courier account and then appropriating it.
The police investigation began following a complaint from a woman who stated to officers that a man had deceived her during the process of opening an account with a home delivery company. According to the victim, she contacted a man who told her he would help her with the paperwork to open the account so she could work, and once she gave him all her details and the account was created, the perpetrator did not give her the access keys to her account, the National Police reported in a statement.
After contacting the man, he reportedly asked the victim for the payment of 50€ to return the account keys, at which point the victim decided to file a formal complaint.
The suspect, aged 45, opened the delivery account using the victim’s details, kept the access credentials and began to utilise it for his own benefit, which also caused a debt for the victim as orders were collected in cash. Following the conclusion of police procedures, the arrested man was brought before the duty court in Alicante.
