The National Police has arrested a 30-year-old fugitive in Dénia who was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant issued by Romanian authorities. The man is wanted in connection with a violent robbery committed in 2019, after which he fled his home country without facing trial.
The breakthrough came thanks to enquiries conducted by an officer from the Dénia police station, who established the suspect’s local residence and verified that an active warrant was in place. According to law enforcement officials, the individual has numerous prior offences in Spain, primarily concerning property crimes.
Following his arrest in Dénia and the completion of initial police procedures, the detainee was brought before the Central Investigating Court of the National Audience. This judicial body is responsible for handling the legal steps required for his eventual extradition back to Romania, where he faces a potential three-year prison sentence.
