Easter Saturday Flooding – In Pictures

Many people in Torrevieja woke on Easter Saturday to find themselves isolated, as overnight rain brought extensive flooding to parts of the town, blocking off roads and resulting in emergency protocols to be launched.

Public transport was shut down, Easter parades cancelled, and emergency workers struggled to free people who had found themselves in difficulties in their vehicles, whilst many homes and businesses suffered flooding.

Some 200 litres per square metre of rain was recorded, resulting in some of the worse flooding in recent years, despite extensive work to try to minimise damage caused by the weather.
