ORIHUELA GOVERNMENT LEGAL CHALLENGE POSTPONED

In an unexpected twist in proceedings on Friday morning, the court case in Orihuela in which Pedro Mancebo and Juan Ignacio López-Bas protested against the legality of their expulsion from the CLR-CLARO group was postponed, due to an administrative oversight.

The case was brought to court after the blocking of a censure motion which could have seen the overthrowing of the current government of Orihuela, returning the PP to power, along with the members of CLR, but the motion was prevented as the two councillors had been expelled from the group and were therefore unable to participate.

Should the case have been won by Mancebo and López-Bas, it could have paved the way forward for the motion to continue, but the failure to indicate the details of the prosecutor on the court documents meant that the hearing had to be postponed, and will now be held on the 11th of April.

This case is running in conjunction with a second complaint contesting the legalities of the blocking of the motion was legal which will be heard in the courts in Elche, with a preview hearing for that case scheduled for the 24th of April.
