Barcelona Football Club is about to appear in an episode of the Simpsons in which Bart himself will also feature wearing one of their shirts.
Due for broadcast in the USA this coming Sunday several of the players are shown, including Lionel Messi, Xavi, Neymar and Iniesta.
In the episode Homer becomes a referee and following rapid promotion through the ranks he travels to officiate in the Brazil World Cup where his integrity is tested by football gangsters offering bribes
This is not the programme’s first relationship with football as Chelsea FC, including Fernando Torres, John Terry and Frank Lampard, already have their own Simpsons caricatures while Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo featured in a previous episode.
