The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, signed an agreement this week with a local internet provider, for the company to offer free WIFI access in key areas of the town, including the plaza de la Constitución, Espacio de Ocio, Tiempo Libre y Artes Emergentes and Playa de Villananitos.
Under the agreement, which will operate for the next two years, the company will install the WIFI zones within a period of three months and the City will facilitate the implementation of technical development and deployment of the service.
Whilst explaining how the chosen areas are some of the busiest in the town, Martínez also pointed out that by installing the equipment on the Playa de Villananitos means that San Pedro can boast of having the first and only beach in the region of Murcia offering free internet access.
The beach is one of the most popular too, praised for its quality and cleanliness, also the fact that the peaceful tranquillity may soon be disturbed by the constant beeps of social network site and internet alerts does not take away from the fact that the technology will allow those who wish to be connected to do so free of charge.
