For many years now the local Red Cross in Santa Pola has annually launched two workshops directed at residents who are over 55 years of age, one of an Aqua gym and the other of Yoga classes.
The workshops are absolutely free and are taught by volunteers during the months of July and August. They are part of the Red Cross Healthy Aging Project run throughout the year in the town.
The AcquaGym workshop first got underway three years ago and is one of the most popular, always in great demand with over 100 enrollments every year. It takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July on the Levante Beach in front of the Red Cross First Aid post, starting at 09.15 through to 10.30 am. The workshop will run through the month of July before ending on 31st
Additionally, during the summer months, a second workshop on Yoga will be held at the Beach during the months of July and August. It will take place every Tuesday, at 19.45 to 21.00 hours at the start of the Gran Playa beach. The first Yoga workshop will be tomorrow, 15th July.

This attending are recommended to use sunscreen, and to wear a hat to protect them from the sun. It is also suggested that they hydrate themselves with water before, during and after the exercise.
These activities are aimed at improving health and fitness of participants, in addition to both a rehabilitating and a socializing function. They will be of particular to all those who lead a sedentary lifestyle and partake only in activities with a low physical activity, but most of all, participants must want to exercise.
