Torrrevieja swimmers at Benidorm Competition

This weekend was a busy one and one that ends the 2013-2014 season. The final competition of the season the “XV Memorial Juan Fuster Zaragoza” took place on Saturday 26th July in the 25m pool at the International School Lopez de Vega, Benidorm.

Fifteen of the regions clubs participated in 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley events in age categories from Prebenjamin to Infantil (7 – 14yrs).

Torrevieja swimmers enjoyed some good racing and two of the team members won 1st place. Paula Garcia won gold in her 50m freestyle event with a new best time of 31:17 and Piroska Rideg first in her 100m medley event with another best time of 1:14:91.

Other members of the team also had good swims improving on previous times. Lastly the girls 4 x 50m freestyle relay fought hard in their race just missing out on trophies with 4th place.

Also this weekend Zoe Connolly travelled to Barcelona for the “XXXVI Infantil Spanish National Summer Championships”.

Zoe had worked hard to gain qualification times in the 100m and 200m Backstroke events. For Zoe the event was a fantastic experience but was masked with disappointment as she fell and sprained her ankle a hour before her first race so her swims did not produce best times but she still remains ranked in the the top 50 swimmers for her age across Spain.

The Club now takes a break throughout August and comes back in September to the new swimming season 2014-2015. For more information regarding Torrevieja Swimming Club please contact Rosa – 665454126, President Felipe on 609418776 or Vicki 669637015 or by e-mail on info@clubnataciontorrevieja.com
