At the 12th meeting of the Environmental Monitoring Commission, which took place on Tuesday, AENA has approved spending of more than 800,000 euros for sound insulation in those homes close to the Alicante-Elche airport.
This is part of a new procedure which has been put in place to assist with the development of an Acoustic Insulation Plan which was unveiled at the meeting.
A spokesman said that “To date, we have received 3,101 applications for acoustic insulation, of which 3,090 have already been approved for further investigation, while work at 1,999 homes and a school have been completed or are in progress.
he Environmental Monitoring Commission at the Airport is composed of representatives from AENA, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, the Government, as well as the municipalities of Alicante and Elche.
AENA say that the work shows their determination to improve the sound quality inside neighboring homes that are included in the Soundproofing Plan for the airport
