In the first 10 months of this year, a total of 74,393 passengers have used the express bus service to Alicante-Elche airport, an increase of 17.4% over the same period of 2013.

During the month of October, 7,717 passengers used the service, 3,875 leaving Torrevieja to go to Alicante-Elche airport, 3,842 using the service to the city from the airport. In October of 2013, the number of passengers was 7,198.

In January of this year, 4,093 people used the service, there were 3,927 in March, 5,015 in May, in April there were 6,873, May saw 7,694, June amounted to 8,748, July saw 11,012, August had 10,325, September saw 8,989 and then the 7,717 in October.

The service departs Torrevieja every odd hour from 07:00 to 21:00, returning from the airport on every second even hour from 08:00 to 22:00. With 8 services each way, every day of the year, the service is express between the two points and travels on the motorway network, avoiding the N-332 coastal road.

The theoretical capacity for the service on a 50-seater coach is 400 passengers each way per day, the equivalent of 12,000 seats in each direction per month, and so with a total of 24,000 seats available each month, only July has so far seen the service used near half of the capacity.

During the whole year of 2013, a total of 72,049 passengers were carried, representing an increase of 39.5% over 2012, when 51,660 people used the service of the theoretical 292,000 annual seats available.
