This week DS Barbarians RFC started training at their new training ground in Daya Vieja, after the council allowed us to use their facilities. This is after just 6 weeks of setting up the new club from scratch, which is based on the old traditional ethics of the sport.
We have an excellent group of novice and experienced players work hard together, with new players coming along each week, and all nationalities, a true Barbarians team.
Training will be on the same days, Monday and Wednesday, but at 20.30 until 22.15 and is on artificial grass so no studs allowed, but will make a big difference for the training and hopefully will attract more people. We already have local people from the town coming to start on Monday.
Also we will be holding a fund raising evening on 13 December at the Steakhouse in Rojales starting at 19.00. Some of the lads are suppose to be getting their legs waxed for donations, so we need someone to come down and do it.
Other things are guess the sweets in the jar, raffle prizes, games for the kids, a few of the lads will be auctioned off to do 2 hours cleaning with a special twist, and of course music.
Our aim is to get teams into the league next season for the juniors and seniors.
All ages, gender and nationalities are welcome and also beginners to experience players the more the merrier as we are based on the true traditional ethics of the sport, and also bond after training in the nearest bar for a drink and chat, just how rugby should be.
For more information about the club contact Saul on 634 042 913 or myself, Dutch, on 692 767 242 or come and see me at Zoco market on Sunday, third row in form the main road at the far end. Also for all of your rugby branded clothing and gear including Canterbury casuals and Cotton Traders shirts, all great Xmas presents.
