Air Passenger Numbers Increasing

Following a busy Easter period, the summer is still looking set to be a bumper one in terms of tourism, after figures this week reveal that Spanish airport served over 14 million passengers in March, representing a rise or 7% over last year.

In total, the airports of the Aena network dealt with 14.3 million passengers, of whom 9.5 million were international travelers, an increase of 7.2% compared to last year, the remaining 4.8 million being from the domestic market, an increase of 6.5% compared to March of 2014.

Alicante-Elche airport served 4.4% more passengers than last year, with 669,004 people being carried. However, in terms of the largest increase, that was at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas where their 3.6 million passengers represented a boost of 13.5% compared to last year.
