The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon, along with Councillor of the Third Age, Inmaculada Montesinos, visited Abelardo Carballo Belmonte last Wednesday morning, at his home in Los Balcones, on the occasion of his 101st birthday.
The mayor presented former soldier Abelardo with a plaque commemorating his birthday on which was inscribed "with our congratulations and affection in your 101 birthday."
Abelardo Carballo was born in 1914 in the Galician city of Ourense and has lived in the same house in Los Balcones since 1970.
Still in very good health, he delighted in sharing a number of anecdotes with Snr Dolon and the Councillor, reflecting on his 45 years in Torrevieja.
