The Desigual Fashion outlet in Alicante had a rather novel way of welcoming their summer sales when they offered shoppers on Monday morning a completely new outfit….no strings, or at least ‘no clothes’ attached.
The promotion was called ‘The Seminaked Summer Edition’ and required customers to arrive at the store wearing nothing more than a swimming costume, which plenty were quite willing to do.
The event was promoted through social networks and there were plenty that decided to give it a go with many quite willing to spend the all night outside in front of the Desigual shop in Avda Maisonnave, Alicante.
In the case of Alejandro Serrano, the first in the queue, he arrived at the store on Sunday evening at 7pm to be the first to get in line. And he was more than a little prepared as the young man had visited the shop on the previous Saturday when he had selected and tried on a number of Desigual outfits.
When he finally left the store on Monday morning he was delighted, saying that he had got exactly what he wanted, two free items, which would otherwise have cost him 230 euros.
Similar events have been held by the store in many Spanish cities as well as Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, Tokyo and New York and they have always proved to be extremely popular with the public.
This is the first time that the promotion has been held in Alicante though, and unlike previous occasions organised in a number of other cities, when shoppers were required to arrive in their underwear, the requirement outlined in Alicante was for shoppers to turn up in either a swimsuit or bikini.
And all those who did turn up enjoyed the background music of top ‘dj’ Cristina Bosta who described the initiative as "original" and "super fun" saying that that the store had made many new fans as a result of their promotion.
