If Your Truck is Stolen – Report It

Although it might seem like an obvious thing to do, the road haulage sector in Spain is being reminded of the importance of reporting vehicle theft immediately to the Guardia Civil.

The message is being reinforced following the Christmas terrorist attack in Berlin, where a truck was driven into a crowd of innocent victims.

Associations representing truckers have already started spreading the message through their social networks, advising that if a truck is stolen, report it immediately to the Guardia Civil on the emergency number, 062. In the event of you not being able to speak Spanish, then the 112 emergency coordination centre staff speak a variety of languages, including English.

Although there has been no specific threat made against Spain, in fact the terror alert level remains the same as was first implemented in 2015, vigilance is always needed.

For their part, Madrid has banned the movement of heavy goods vehicles between the 3rd and 5th of January, as a precaution in the build up to the Three King´s Parade. Other transport restrictions may well be implemented across the country as a precaution, and there will be an increase in security checks at the roadside. Remember, nothing to hide, nothing to fear, if you see one of these checkpoints, never share the location through social networks, as it could alert others of the presence of the officers, always respond to the instructions given, stay calm and you will be on your way soon.
