A 78-year-old bather has drowned on the beach of Los Locos in Torrevieja on Tuesday, according to the Emergency Coordination Centre.
Operators received a call at 10:45 saying that an unconscious bather had been removed from the water at the beach, and so they immediately sent a paramedic unit to assist.
Although medics attempted advanced resuscitation on the man, there was nothing they could do to save his life.
