According to a statement from the Superior Headquarters, National Police officers have detained a 26-year-old man in the town of Benidorm (Alicante) for drug trafficking. He was stopped at a checkpoint in a car carrying 119 grams of cocaine.
The police were doing a normal security check on a road in Benidorm, close to the English area, when they stopped a car with a man inside and checked both him and the car. Officers searched the vehicle because they thought he might be hiding drugs. They found two packages of cocaine, which weighed 119 grams, in his clothes. After the discovery, he was taken into custody as the suspected drug trafficker. After the arrest, police looked into a criminal network that was mostly responsible for selling drugs in Benidorm, which is known for its English-speaking nightlife. Because of this, two additional persons were arrested, and two houses were searched, where drugs and money were found. After the police investigation, one of the people who was arrested, the primary suspect, has been handed up to the duty magistrates in Benidorm.

The National Police are doing precautionary checks on people and cars in different parts of the cities. These actions are part of the ongoing efforts to keep an eye on and control drug trafficking and other illegal activity. The checks are done in a “random and coordinated” way to “strengthen public safety” and “stop crimes related to drug use and distribution.” These steps are meant to “guarantee the peace and well-being of the entire population.”
