Thieves like to rob old people because they are easy targets. In San Vicente del Raspeig, this is what happened: the Guardia Civil arrested a 44-year-old woman as the alleged thief of three burglaries after she took jewellery worth about €25,000.
The events happened between December 2025 and February of this year, when the Guardia Civil learned of various jewellery thefts that happened within three homes as part of the Senior Citizens’ Safety Plan. In all of the cases, there was a clear pattern: the victims were older individuals.
Because the events were so bad and the victims were so weak, the main post of the Guardia Civil of San Vicente started what they termed Operation Parajo.
The Guardia Civil said that in the first part of the inquiry, the agents looked at the properties that were damaged and made sure that none of them had traces of forced entry on doors or access points or damage or mess in the rooms.
Because of these circumstances, investigators had a hunch about a certain way of doing things and took the required procedures to find out who might have done the crimes.
Doubts
Officers confirmed that a domestic worker had worked or was working in the three residences that were affected after asking multiple times. The same sources say that even though the woman had never been in trouble for anything like this before, she was still a suspect.
After then, others who worked at different places in the province of Alicante that buy and sell gold and antiquities confirmed that the suspect had sold some of the jewellery that had been reported stolen.
During the investigation, the agents were able to get back some of the stolen things and give some of the jewellery back to its owners.
In front of the judge
On February 25th, police detained the worker and charged her with three counts of stealing. She was taken to the right court, which ordered her release with safety precautions in place until her trial.
At the same time, detectives have found other jewellery purchases that the current complainants have not reported, thus it is possible that new victims may come forward who hired the detainee’s services between 2022 and now.
Because of these instances, the Guardia Civil suggests that anybody who thinks they may have been a victim of this person report to the Guardia Civil station in San Vicente or call them at 96 567 58 14.
