A well-established cultural event will be held on the Vista Alegre promenade from Saturday March 28th to April 6th. The event will feature 15 booths, 23 emerging authors, and the participation of Javier Sierra and Paloma Sánchez-Garnica. As in previous years, a 10% discount will be applied to all purchases made at the booths during the fair, thereby facilitating access to literature and promoting cultural consumption.
Antonio Quesada, the Councillor for Culture of the Torrevieja City Council, and the superintendent of the Municipal Institute of Culture “Joaquín Chapaprieta,” The Torrevieja Book Fair, which has already become a fixture in the city’s cultural calendar, will be held on the Vista Alegre promenade from March 28 to April 6. Miguel Fernández has introduced the XXVIII incarnation of the event.
Antonio Quesada indicated that the 28th edition represents “a well-established tradition, a city that values reading, and an event that continues to expand in ambition and quality each year” during his address. He emphasised that Torrevieja unites consumers, authors, booksellers, and publishers around the theme of culture during these days.

Commencement and finishing with world-class writers
This year, the 28th Book Fair will showcase two of the most prominent figures in contemporary Spanish literature. The Torrevieja Casino will host the formal opening of the fair on Saturday, March 28, at 12:00 noon. The fair’s patron, the internationally acclaimed writer Javier Sierra, will present his most recent work.
In a spectacular finale, the Royal Nautical Club of Torrevieja (RCNT) will host a meeting with the writer Paloma Sánchez-Garnica, the 2024 Planeta Prize winner, on Saturday, April 4. This event will conclude a stellar literary programme.
A fair with a larger publishing presence
This year, the fair is experiencing a new surge in both participation and capacity. There will be a total of 15 kiosks, which will serve as the focus of the cultural event on the avenue. Publishers and cultural associations occupy eight booths, while bookshops are allocated seven large stalls (9 metres).
The councillor emphasised the event’s increasing popularity, which has attracted exhibitors from a variety of regions throughout the country, including Puerto de Santa María and Málaga, as well as participants from the Region of Murcia and various municipalities in the province of Alicante.
Additionally, he desired to express his gratitude to the local booksellers, emphasising that they are “an essential component of the city’s ongoing cultural promotion, both during the fair and year-round.”

Assistance for new authors
Support for emerging authors is one of the cornerstones of the Torrevieja Book Fair. The event has been recognised as a genuine incubator for literary talent for a number of years.
This year, the festival will include a central tent that will serve as the focal point of cultural activities. The City Council is providing a platform for visibility and promotion to 23 emerging writers, who will present, speak, and sign books in this space.

Additionally, activities will be implemented to cultivate a passion for literature among children and adolescents from an early age. Storytelling sessions, creative workshops, and educational activities for children are among the planned offerings. These events will be held in both the morning and afternoon, providing the youngest participants with an enjoyable and engaging experience of the world of literature.
