The National Police have arrested two people in Alicante, a 39-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, who are believed to be involved in drug trafficking and having guns without permission. The arrested individuals sold cocaine and hashish in stores, utilising a car with a secret compartment to transport the drugs.
The inquiry started after many complaints told the police about a man who was supposedly selling drugs, mostly cocaine and hashish. The investigation found that the suspect used his car to move the drugs. The car had a secret compartment, which police call a “stash compartment,” where the drugs were hidden.
The agents’ surveillance and monitoring confirmed that the suspect utilised his car to go to several places where he met with customers to do business.
What are coves?
These are secret compartments that have been added to or changed in vehicles to hide drugs, money, or other illegal stuff. These compartments are hidden in different parts of the car, such the dashboard, doors, seats, or trunk. They may feature hidden opening mechanisms that make it hard for police to find the drugs.
During the operative phase, agents executed a search warrant at a home that had been approved by a court. They found 206 grams of cocaine, 796 grams of hashish, a pistol, a revolver, a fake weapon, several types of ammunition, two precision scales, and a high-end car.
