The Guardia Civil has broken up a marijuana farm in Sax as part of Operation Green Sax. They detained the people involved, a father and son, ages 62 and 31, both of whom had no criminal records before.
Sax has a marijuana plantation.
The Sax Police Station’s Investigation Unit started the operation after getting many complaints regarding power outages and voltage spikes on a street in town. In the first step, the officers found the house where the electricity use was eight times more than what was agreed upon. After finding out who owned the property, it was determined that he didn’t live there full-time, but he did visit often.
During the inquiry, with help from the Citizen Security Unit of the Command (USECIC), it was determined that the residence was very hot, which is a sign of a suspected indoor marijuana grow operation. Surveillance also showed that a second residence quite close to the one being looked at was being used for logistical activities related to the grow operation.

On March 25th, after identifying those responsible, a search warrant was executed at both properties. The Ibi Company’s ROCA Team and the Sax Local Police were also involved in the operation. Officers found 476 marijuana plants, 600 grams of vacuum-sealed marijuana, a large machete, and other things required to weigh and package the contraband during the searches. The people who owned and were accountable for the properties were arrested. It was also found that both homes had unlawful connections to the electricity system, which would have caused the area’s power outages. The people who were arrested for drug trafficking and stealing electricity have been let go until their trial. The Villena Court of First Instance’s Civil and Preliminary Investigation Section is in charge of the court case.
