A swarm of bees attacked a motorcycle sitting in the parking lot of a restaurant in the town of Tibi in Alicante in just a few minutes.
This past Easter Monday, April 6th, thousands of bees settled on the bike while a number of people watched. It was a very impressive sight.
A customer shot a video that showed the bees starting to cover the motorcycle’s windscreen and then forming a big honeycomb on the vehicle.
Firefighters had to don beekeeping gear to get rid of the swarm since there were so many insects and they were dangerous to people walking by. There were no injuries, which is good.
Bees that travel
In the spring, when flowers are in bloom, you can often witness large swarms of bees on trees, building facades, or cars. These migrating bee swarms are groups of bees who have left their initial swarm and are looking for a new home. As they make their way to a new home, the bees stop to rest in different places and form a “ball” of bees. The scout bees look for a permanent home. Experts believe these bees are calm and just passing through, so it’s best to leave them alone and let them go.
However, the noise these transient swarms make generally gets firefighters or local beekeepers to act and get rid of them.
