Local Police in Dénia and an off-duty firefighter have saved the life of a swimmer who found himself unable to return to the shore. The man, who was reportedly in a state of intoxication, had to be rescued after he became stranded in the water and could not exit by his own means.
According to municipal sources, the swimmer was spotted approximately 300 metres from the coastline in the vicinity of the Noguera Restaurant, located at a beach in Dénia. The man appeared to be visibly drunk and was struggling in the water.
A local officer reached the man using a kayak and by swimming out to his position. Working together with an off-duty firefighter who happened to be on the beach at the time, the officer managed to bring the man back to safety. The swift actions of the pair are credited with saving the individual’s life.
