The Almoradí Town Council has launched a comprehensive overhaul of its waste collection and street cleaning services. This modernisation project, part of a new ten-year contract awarded to the company PreZero, was introduced with the presentation of a fresh fleet of vehicles and equipment designed to improve efficiency throughout the municipality.
As part of the initial phase, 228 new general waste containers are being installed. The local authority is also expanding the number of bins available in industrial estates and outlying rural areas. This new model focuses on reorganising deposit points into more complete “islands,” grouping different recycling fractions together to make the disposal process more orderly and functional for residents.
The Mayor of Almoradí, María Gómez, described the initiative as a vital step in enhancing an essential public service. She noted that the updated system is better equipped to meet the current needs of the town and confirmed that the council will provide clear information to help citizens adapt to the changes.

Significant investment has also been made in personnel and machinery. The workforce dedicated to street cleaning and waste collection has increased from 18 to 27 employees. The new fleet includes two collection lorries, two electric open-box vehicles, a container washer, a high-pressure cleaning van, and two sweepers. Additionally, workers have been equipped with electric leaf blowers and brush cutters.
Domingo Andreu, the Councillor for Street Cleaning, emphasised that the improvements go beyond just new hardware, representing a global enhancement of the municipal service. To support the rollout, a public information office will be opened weekly to address resident enquiries.
Future plans under this contract include awareness campaigns to promote correct waste separation and the eventual creation of a permanent eco-park through the regional consortium.
