The Guardia Civil has arrested two men in Silla after they were caught stealing approximately 2,000 kilograms of railway material. The investigation began when officers patrolling an industrial area in Silla spotted a van that appeared to be heavily overloaded.
Upon stopping the vehicle and conducting an inspection, the agents discovered a vast quantity of metal components specifically used in railway infrastructure, including plates and screws.
The occupants of the vehicle were unable to provide any documentation or proof of legal origin for the heavy load. Following further enquiries, the Guardia Civil confirmed that the material had been stolen from a nearby storage area belonging to the railway infrastructure manager.
The recovered items, weighing nearly two tonnes, have been returned to their rightful owners. Both men, aged 34 and 45, now face charges of theft, and the proceedings have been handed over to the Investigating Court of Carlet.
