Tax revenue in the province of Alicante has seen a significant increase during the first quarter of the year, outperforming the national average. According to the latest report released by the Tax Agency, total collection in Alicante rose by 15.3 per cent compared to the same period last year. This brings the total to 1,421 million euro, up from the 1,232 billion euro recorded in the previous year.
This growth in Alicante is notably higher than the figures seen across the rest of Spain. On a national level, tax collection increased by 11.7 per cent, reaching a total of 73,950 million euro compared to 66,214 million euro in the prior period.
The rise in revenue within the province is driven largely by Value Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax (IRPF). Specifically, VAT collection in Alicante grew by 17.5 per cent, while Income Tax saw an increase of 14.8 per cent. These figures reflect a period of robust economic activity in the region, with the local performance proving to be a key driver for the Treasury.
Despite the broader economic challenges, the data suggests that the province of Alicante is maintaining a faster pace of fiscal growth than many other parts of the country. The Tax Agency’s report highlights that the increase in revenue is consistent across various tax categories, reinforcing the trend of increased financial contributions from the region.
