This weekend, the Orihuela Local Police conducted numerous operations along the coast, which led to the detention of four individuals for a variety of offences, including sexual assault, gender violence, vehicle theft, and outstanding warrants.
The most significant intervention occurred in the La Florida urbanisation on Sunday afternoon, May 12th, when a woman requested assistance from the agents after successfully exiting a residence in which she claimed to have been confined since the conclusion of April.
In the street, a woman who was visibly distraught and weeping summoned a patrol. This marked the beginning of the incident. The officer was informed by the victim that she had recently escaped from the residence where she resided, as she was being prevented from departing against her will by a man.
The woman disclosed that she had been subjected to continuous coercion and intimidation for an extended period of time during the intervention. The man threatened to send intimate photographs and videos to family and friends if she left the house, according to her account.
She recollected that, in order to ultimately leave the house, she had to contact the detainee’s son in advance, claiming that she was going shopping. The man allegedly began disseminating intimate images and videos to individuals in close proximity to the victim after he departed the property.
The alleged perpetrator was located at a residence in La Florida after several local police patrols were dispatched to the site. The man was apprehended by the officers for the offences of unlawful detention, coercion, gender-based violence, sexual assault, and disclosure of secrets after conducting interviews with both parties and conducting the requisite investigations.
The victim was subsequently transported to register the corresponding complaint, and the detainee was released to the Guardia Civil of Pilar de la Horadada, in accordance with the proceedings that had been prepared by the Local Police of Orihuela.
Additional detention
Two individuals were apprehended by local police officers on Calle Colón on the Orihuela Costa on the same Sunday for the larceny of a vehicle and potential document forgery.
The officers discovered a Lexus whose occupants elicited suspicion. Consequently, they conducted a thorough examination of the vehicle’s documentation and information. Following these inspections, they verified that the vehicle had been reported stolen in 2018 and identified potential evidence of tampering with the vehicle identification number (VIN).
The operation enabled the recovery of the vehicle and the apprehension of its occupants. While investigations continue to elucidate the facts, the vehicle was immobilised and impounded.
Additionally, on the last Friday, the Local Police apprehended a man on Calle Traviata who was the subject of a court order for search, detention, and appearance issued by a court in Malaga.
The detention took place during a joint static checkpoint operation in Orihuela Costa. A vehicle was intercepted by officers after the driver attempted to evade them upon recognising the police presence. Upon identifying him and verifying his information, they discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest and promptly apprehended him.
