The Traffic Group of the Guardia Civil in the Valencian Community has brought a total of 89 drivers in the province of Alicante before the courts during the month of April. These individuals are facing investigation for various alleged crimes against road safety.
According to official data, the majority of the interventions in Alicante involved motorists driving under the influence of alcohol or operating vehicles without a valid permit. Specifically, 46 drivers were investigated for driving under the effects of alcohol, while 36 were caught without a driving licence or permit.
The figures for Alicante also include four cases of reckless driving and three instances of excessive speeding. These actions formed part of a wider crackdown across the Valencian Community, which saw a total of 211 drivers brought to justice in April.
Across the wider region, the reasons for legal action included driving after a total loss of licence points, defying judicial bans on driving, and individuals who had never obtained a licence. The Guardia Civil continues to monitor the roads to ensure compliance with traffic laws and to reduce the risks associated with dangerous driving and substance abuse behind the wheel.
