Following an operation in which the agents found nearly 30 kilograms of cocaine, nearly four kilograms of hashish, a pistol, and more than 11,000 euros in cash, the National Police detained two men, ages 36 and 37, in the Alicante towns of Dolores and Rojales on charges of crimes against public health and illegal possession of weapons.
After learning that one of the suspects was allegedly committed to distributing drugs “on a medium scale” and supplying other traffickers, the National Police Station of Elche’s narcotics unit launched the investigation.
The police claim that they were able to identify two people with different roles within the group through surveillance and monitoring. While the second suspect was allegedly in charge of storing, adulterating, and packing the drugs, the first suspect travelled to several sites and took “numerous protective measures to avoid potential police surveillance.”
The operation resulted in many residence searches that were approved by the court. Officers found approximately 30 kilograms of cocaine, nearly four kilograms of hashish, two precision scales, €11,420 in cash, a 9mm pistol with ammo, and numerous tools used to process and distribute the drugs during these searches.
Cars with secret chambers
Three cars that were purportedly utilised to transport the drugs were also seized as a result of the investigation. The National Police claim that the vehicles have “stashes” or secret compartments intended to hide the drug and prevent it from being found during future inspections.
The inmates have been shown to the Torrevieja and Orihuela duty judges. One of them has been placed in pretrial detention by the judge.
