The C-6 bus line, which links the city centre of Alicante with Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, is finalising the launch of a service reinforcement. The change will come into effect on 1st June, aiming to expand the service ahead of the start of the summer season.
Specifically, the line will incorporate an additional bus and increase its number of journeys to cope with the growth in passenger numbers recorded at the Alicante terminal. Daily services will rise from the current 80 trips to 92, according to details provided by sources from the concessionaire company, Grupo Vectalia.
This operational adjustment will mean a two-minute reduction in daytime waiting times, thanks to a total of six vehicles operating continuously between the morning and the afternoon, the same sources point out.
Furthermore, the bus service, which operates 24 hours a day, will also improve its night-time frequencies. Buses will run every 30 minutes during the early hours, providing an enhanced service during time slots where flight landings and take-offs often increase, particularly during the summer season.
Sources from Vectalia noted that this improvement responds to a growing need. The concessionaire company, which is part of the metropolitan bus transport service dependent on the Generalitat, highlighted that passenger numbers passing through the airport have been rising continuously in recent years, which in turn impacts the number of users on the C-6 line.
Consequently, the changes entering into force this coming Monday represent an improvement in the quality of public transport to the airport, responding to rising passenger demand and the commitment to offer a more agile, comfortable and efficient service. The company concluded in a statement that the expansion will provide travellers with a smoother and more frequent connection, facilitating journeys for both airline passengers and daily workers who use the line.
