National Police officers have arrested a 31-year-old man in the Alicante town of Elche as the alleged culprit behind a break-in at a detached house in the local hamlet of Torrellano. A vast number of collector’s items from a well-known brand of building-block toys, valued at more than 10,000 euro, were stolen during the burglary.
The police investigation led to the recovery of almost all of the stolen collectible items. Some had been sold by the arrested man to two second-hand shops, while others were still being kept at his own home, according to a statement from the police headquarters.
The incident took place during the final weekend of May, when a man reported that his home, a detached property within the municipality of Torrellano, had been targeted. Intruders smashed one of the windows and stole a large volume of collector’s items belonging to the construction toy set. The victim stored the items there in connection with his role as the owner of a shop selling these specific products within the province.

In his report, the victim detailed every single collectible piece with precision, estimating the total value at more than 10,000 euro. He even noted that his specific collection was so exclusive that it would be highly unfeasible for any other private individual in Spain to possess them.
The suspect turned out to be a neighbour of the victim who was fully aware that these highly sought-after articles were being stored inside the house.
Investigators seized the items as a precautionary measure while waiting to determine if the victim could identify them as those stolen from his home. Upon being shown the recovered pieces, the owner fully recognized them as his own, and they have since been returned to him.
Nevertheless, the investigative team is continuing its efforts to locate the remaining stolen items, and further arrests have not been ruled out. Following the completion of police proceedings, the arrested man was placed at the disposal of the duty investigative courts in Elche.
