Orihuela is proposing a different way to enjoy its museums this summer, with a night programme that combines heritage, music, workshops, local wine and activities for the whole family. The Department of Culture and Orihuela Cultural S.L.U. have designed a special schedule that transforms museum spaces into dynamic settings during the summer nights. The initiative aims to offer new cultural experiences in a closer atmosphere, designed for both families and groups of friends.
The programme includes children’s workshops, guided night tours, local wine tastings, acoustic concerts, a children’s gymkhana and a novel proposal: a children’s camp at the Miguel Hernández House Museum. The aim is for the museums not only to be visited, but to be experienced in a more participatory and attractive way. The initiative invites both residents and visitors to rediscover the heritage of Orihuela from a different perspective. Beyond touring its historical spaces, the proposal aims to fill them with life, activity and experiences that connect with the public in the middle of summer.
The schedule will kick off on 26th June with “Perito en lunas” at the Miguel Hernández House Museum. This activity is inspired by the author’s poetic universe and the moon as a creative symbol. The night will feature artistic workshops, an astronomical observatory organised by MUDIC, and the screening of the film Voyage to the Moon by Georges Méliès.

As a prominent highlight, a children’s camp will be offered in this emblematic space, allowing a small group of children to experience a unique night sleeping in the museum. This activity will require prior registration, with a maximum of 10 participants aged between 10 and 12 years, by calling 672 219 071. General activities will take place from 21:00 to 00:00 hours, while the camp will last until 09:00 the following day.
On the same day, there will also be a guided night tour of the Museum of the Reconquest and the Wall. This proposal will allow visitors to learn about the mediaeval history of the city in a special atmosphere, where night lighting and silence enhance the historical value of the surroundings.
The programme will continue on 31st July with an evening combining culture, gastronomy and music. The Miguel Hernández House Museum will host a local wine tasting and a children’s craft workshop. The night will conclude with an acoustic concert in the Cloister of the Santo Domingo Diocesan College, one of the most emblematic spaces in Orihuela.
On 28 August, the Miguel Hernández House Museum will host a new session with wine tasting, a children’s workshop and live music, maintaining the essence of this proposal that combines culture and family leisure in an accessible format.
The cycle will end on 11th September at the Wall Museum with a children’s gymkhana, where the youngest visitors can discover the history of the city through games and participatory activities.
The Department of Culture highlights that this initiative reinforces a more participatory vision of culture adapted to the summer, offering attractive leisure alternatives during the nights. With this proposal, Orihuela invites everyone to enjoy its heritage from another perspective: walking along the wall at dusk, listening to music in historical enclaves, tasting local wines or learning through play.
