Spanish airline Iberia has announced upcoming changes to the names and concepts of its hand luggage allowances, set to take effect from tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd June. According to a statement issued to travel agencies, the carrier will redefine the specific attributes that determine cabin baggage.
Under the new guidelines, the current “Personal Accessory” item will be formally renamed as “Personal Hand Luggage”. Furthermore, this piece will now be treated as a separate and entirely independent attribute within the ticketing process. Depending on the specific fare purchased by the passenger, it will be clearly displayed as separate from the larger cabin bags.
In addition to renaming the smaller personal item, Iberia is also updating the classifications of its main cabin bags. The standard cabin luggage allowed on board will be officially renamed as “Luggage up to 10 kg” for passengers travelling in both Economy and Premium Economy cabins. For individuals flying in Business Class, this main piece will be known as “Luggage up to 14 kg”.
